Two years ago on this day, I became the luckiest, and happiest girl in this whole world.

and guess what?

I still am :)

I couldn't be more excited to spend some romantic time just me and my love on our anniversary trip in 1.5 weeks! Counting down the days/hours/minutes/seconds...literally.

A few things I've been working on...

yoga

One upside to having no furniture in your living room = great space to practice yoga :)

demonstrated above: vrischikasana (scorpion pose) and  pincha mayurasana.

I was just so excited to have mastered these over the last few weeks, I had to share!

'all is coming'

Last week I was asked to sub-teach a restorative yoga class at a new personal training club in Orem called 'The Lab'. I was pretty nervous at first because I had never taught restorative before! But, I had picked up quite a bit from my own personal practice, so I thought it would be a wonderful experience to teach something new. It turned out to be a great class! And the owners of the club must have really liked it also, because they offered me a permanent position to teach two classes a week!! I'll be teaching a more advanced class on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, and hopefully I'll be able to teach the restorative class here and there as well (I'm teaching it again this Saturday). I am beyond excited to have my first official teaching position, and that I will be able to share yoga with lots of new people.
One of the things I love about yoga is the idea of acceptance and continuous growth. Yoga has taught me to be accepting of myself and my abilities, while also continuing to grow and improve. For example, I accept that I cannot yet hold my handstand for 5 breaths, but I love to see my progress towards that goal with each dedicated day of practice. After all, if we could do everything perfect all at once, where would be the enjoyment in that? Part of the beauty in doing something that we love is seeing ourselves grow stronger through our continuous efforts. And this can be applied to other areas of life in so many ways.

I am a happy girl :)

In Portland

I just got back from spending a few days in beautiful Portland visiting my hubby.
It. Was. Perfect.
I loved getting to spend some good time with my sweetheart, I have missed him like crazy! I already cannot wait for my next visit (t - minus 3 weeks people). I have felt like this whole living apart thing has actually brought us even closer as a couple, because we just treasure every moment we have together (whether it's on the phone, facetime, or in person).  We never take any time together for granted.

During the daytime while Covey was at work, I went out to explore the city! And I am absolutely smitten. I love Portland! I love that is has a big city feel, but it is surround by trees and forests. I love the diversity and culture. I love that you see bikers and runners EVERYWHERE. I love how green everything is. Driving through the little neighborhoods just outside the city was simply enchanting. I love that is has a wonderful yoga community. And not to mention, the beach is only a little over an hour away.

All I'm going to say is... Covey may or may not have received an invitation to meet with a few accounting companies in Portland... and we both really love it here.
But that's all I'm saying :)

summer update

Time for a little update on our summer. It's going to be challenging, but full of growth and wonderful opportunities. Covey is working in Portland for the summer. Last summer we moved to Texas while Covey worked for Elite security. This year, Cov is working for the same company, just in a different location. Obviously, the plan was always for me to go with him for the summer, and then I was offered two incredible job positions right after graduation. It was honestly one of the hardest decisions I've ever had to make. After much prayer and contemplation, Covey and I decided together that it would be best for me to accept both job offers. So we looked for a new place to live (we were both ready to get out of our old apartment), booked a bunch of plane tickets for me to fly out and visit every month, and spent a lot of one-on-one time to prepare for a very hard summer of living apart. It's only been one week so far since covey left, and it has felt like forever! I miss him SO much. I look forward every day to our little "face time" dates (thank goodness for iphones!).
so far...
Covey is already killing it out there in Oregon {you are amazing babe!}.  And I am working and learning so much here in Utah. I am working at my Yoga studio (3b yoga), and I absolutely love it. I just feel at home there. I love the atmosphere, I love the talented people I work with, I love sharing yoga with new people every day. I am also working with a company called Wellsteps, which specializes in work site health promotion. I will be working with large companies and small businesses to run wellness programs and improve the health of their employees. It's pretty neat!
*In my spare time I am also doing a lot of riding on my new bike! I am loving it.

So that is our latest update. I am driving out to Oregon this weekend for my first visit and I cannot wait :)

teaching yoga

This past month I participated in a teaching internship at my yoga studio (3B yoga)
I taught and/or assisted a community yoga class 2-3 times a week. The classes started out small, but after the first week, we were having up to 45 people in every class! I have to say, teaching a class of 40+ people definitely made my teaching confidence grow by leaps and bounds. I mean really, how much scarier can it get? :) By the end of my internship, I really felt like I found my voice as a yoga teacher. And I fell in love with teaching. The pictures above are from a night when so many people came, we had to start a second class outside! The twinkling lights and summer night air definitely made for a beautiful and calming atmosphere to practice yoga.  It was amazing to see the turn out for the community classes! It just goes to show that yoga is for anyone and everyone. You don't have to be super flexible or strong to do yoga. As my teacher said on our first day of yoga training:

"If you are alive and breathing, you can do yoga".

I am now looking for my first real teaching position to teach yoga a few times a week here in Provo. Also I am going to be doing another teaching training later this month! (Yoga on the Wall, which is similar to anti-gravity yoga). In a nut shell: loving life.

new address

This past weekend we moved out of our old apartment, and into a new townhouse in provo! This was a dream come true for a long list of reasons:

no more broken cupboards
WOOD FLOORS
our own washer/dryer
beautiful park just outside our back door
AC
quite, safe location
out of the 'student bubble'
and lots more!

We did some major spring cleaning in preparation for the move and sold/gave away tons of stuff. Our new house will be somewhat bare for a few months, and I'll be slowly designing and decorating it throughout the summer. The sofa pictured above was our first home purchase, and I am in love with it. (and I love even more that I found it for a killer deal!) I am so excited for the whole house to be finished. Time to put all those pinterest boards to good use :)
